ZIG is the cute one
The Androids

The 'Droids are Dr. Robotnik's more humanoid, more versatile creations.

While most of Eggman's robots are basically dime-a-dozen mindless, emotionless drones, the Androids are highly-advanced robots, each equipped with an arm-mounted buster rifle and trained in various forms of martial arts, streetfighting, sissified chicken fighting, etc. They've also been given free will (or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof) and relatively unique personalities...

Hey, look, Artificial Intelligence programming is still in development. It's hard to program entirely unique personalities and free will!

Leet:
The first 'Droid created. Leet is convinced that he's the leader of the 'Droids and is obsessed with his personal Cool Factor. Leet is... probably the worst member of the trio, as he's extremely stubborn, has a low memory reserve, and he's not very versatile in his fighting abilities. Robotnik's planning on upgrading Leet... eventually... Also, he doesn't have an interchangeable hand/gun like Woot and ZIG.

Woot:
The second Android created. Woot believes that she is the leader of the trio and is extremely over-dramatic. Woot's abilities and mental capacity are much more advanced than Leet's, yet... she's no more fit to be a leader than Leet is.

ZIG:
The third, and thankfully last of the 'Droids. ZIG isn't convinced that he's the leader; he just does whatever Leet and Woot tell him to do. Though he's the newest model of android, ZIG's abilities aren't as advanced as Woot's, he has the memory and attention span of an insect, and he's unnaturally hyperactive. But hey, his heart's in the right place! ... or, well... I guess in this case his heart's in the wrong place or... oh forget it...
